This asynchronous, fully online course will provide the participants with the basic principles of remote sensing of vegetation as well as the application of those principles to monitoring vegetation using publicly available data sources including European Space Agency (ESA) and United States Geological Survey (USGS). Specific emphasis will be placed on the use of RGB images and multispectral images collected by satellites, airplanes, and drones for mapping and monitoring crop health. We will be using open source and freely available software tools in this course. Participants enrolled in this course are expected to have prior knowledge of GIS and basic GIS skills. Satisfactory completion of all components of this course are required to receive the certificate of completion.
